Hero Academy – Costa Rica is our main project in Costa Rica. Through the Hero Academy we help kids on extreme poverty conditions, specially in the Guanacaste Area.

Our main goal is focused on prevention, so this kids wont be abused, being able to give them opportunities to a better future. We are reaching this goal through our Hero Academy, where we give Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and English lessons to children and their parents.

JiuJitsu for Kids and Adults

One of our main programs at Hero Academy is our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Lessons. In addition to being a very effective combat sport and self-defense method, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu also offers its disciplined practitioners a variety of health benefits.

It is an art that is extremely rigorous and difficult to master, and through this program we aim to help our students to gain significant physical and mental benefits such as better focus, discipline, self-defense, increased flexibility, improved fitness, strength and general physical conditioning.

Both kids and adults benefit from this practice. The process of learning a technique requires as much mental activity as it does physical.

Our students live in extreme poverty conditions, they have complicated psychological-emotional situations due to domestic violence, verbal and physical abuse. Besides, kids are usually deeply affected by any family problems they may have, Therefore, Jiu-Jitsu practice is a Stress release for them, it teaches them  to manage and control aggressiveness and to remain calm. It also helps them to increase their self-confidence and improve their concentration. It gives them mental strength to keep pushing even when things are not going their way, this teaches them how to handle things in other areas of their lives outside of the gym.

English Classes For Kids and Adults

Costa Rica is a Spanish speaking country, but is no secret that everyday English is the most commonly spoken language in the world,

Knowing English increases the chances of a better future. From getting a good job in a multinational or tourism company to winning scholarships and going to study abroad or even finding a job abroad. These are opportunities that seem impossible for many families in the Guanacaste Area, However, speaking English will open doors for them, they will have better opportunities that will lead them to success.

At the Hero Academy Costa Rica we put both kids and adults in a friendly, English speaking environment where they can learn at their own pace, playing, reading, learning grammar and feeling confortable to speak and practice.

We aim to help on the personal development of these families, helping them to become successful people, get better jobs, better study opportunities, new unthinkable opportunities to see the world and meet other cultures through language, to help them get out from the circle that only brings poverty in their lives, opening their minds so they know they can have a different, better, new future for them and their kids.

Level 1: Kids up to 8 years old that can not read
or write yet

Saturday:  12:30 – 1:30 PM

Level 2: Kids from 8 to 15 years old

Friday:  5:00 – 6:00 PM
